Reduce Fatigue With Natural Green Tea Extract

Is any other food or drink reported to have as many health benefits as green tea? The Chinese have known about the medicinal benefits of green tea since ancient times, using it to treat everything from headaches to depression. In her book Green Tea: The Natural Secret for a Healthier Life, Nadine Taylor states that green tea has been used as a medicine in China for at least 4,000 or 5,000 years.

Today, scientific research in both Asia and the west is providing hard evidence for the health benefits long associated with drinking green tea. For example, in 1994 the Journal of the National Cancer Institute published the results of an epidemiological study indicating that drinking green tea reduced the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by nearly sixty percent. University of Purdue researchers recently concluded that a compound in green tea inhibits the growth of cancer cells. There is also research indicating that drinking green tea lowers total cholesterol levels, as well as improving the ratio of good (HDL) cholesterol to bad (LDL) cholesterol. Green tea may even help with fatigue.

Acute fatigue is a normal phenomenon that disappears after a period of rest. In contrast, the effects of accumulated fatigue are sometimes irreversible, and the compensation mechanisms that are useful in reducing acute fatigue are no longer effective, explained lead author Masaaki Tanaka from Osaka City University Graduate School of Medicine.

One such method may be supplements of green tea extract, if the results of the animal study can be repeated in humans. Green tea and its extracts already have a positive reputation, with studies reporting they may offer protective effects against Alzheimer’s and certain cancers, improve cardiovascular and oral health, and play a positive role in weight management.

Green leaf tea is produced in a special way. The leaves of the Camellia sinensis must be dried and steamed for the tea to be prepared. This process prevents the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), or parts of the plant with antioxidant properties, from oxidizing. This sets green tea apart from other teas.

Green tea is only beneficial when it contains its active ingredients. The active ingredients such as EGCG act as powerful antioxidants in the body which can help fight free radical damage. Free radicals destroy cells in the body, once cells have been damaged, the immune system has to eliminate the damaged by product. Because the immune system does this kind of work, it can be come over worked. By supplementing with green tea, one can help by supplying the body with needed antioxidants which quench the free radicals circulating in the body this is why it is important to have a good supply of antioxidants in any form available in the body for immediate use. Reducing the damage in the body lightens the load on your immune system thus giving it a boost.
