Ugg boots might be comfortable, but they’re not fashionable
Have you ever asked someone where the name Ugg comes from? Do you really want to know it? You will never want to wear your cosy Uggs again.
Because what follows after the question where the name comes from, is a brief past of the Ugg boots, their genuine function, and why you look like a fool if you wear them.

To those who cringe at the sight of these fashion atrocities, you can blame these wonderful moguls of style for beginning the trend in the 30′s: Australian farmers.

Those farmers even coined the precursor to the brand name we use today: “ugh,” slang for – you may guess

Ugly.

Pilots in World War I were the first to catch on to the craze. Except they changed the word to “fug” for “flying ugg.” At this point the adjective “fugly” appeared in American lexicon, now attributed to the f-word + ugly to avoid bad press for this singularly hideous footwear.

In the 60s, Australian competitive surfers discovered the boots and used them for the reasonable purpose of insulation after catching a wave.
But thinking about the fact that Ugg Boots nowadays are one of the best selling products in the world, it all sorted out pretty good for ugly boots.
But now that you know the history of it (and you may hate the boot), you definitly have a new joke to make if someone in your surrounding purchases a pair of Ugg Boots.
